The ChrisCorps Commission

Welcome to the ChrisCorps Commission (CCC), an initiative whose time has come! The underlying conviction that fuels our work is simple: Just as the only hope for the human soul is the Person of Christ, so also the only hope for human society is the Body of Christ.

Vision: Mobilize and Multiply

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the great Russian literary giant and dissident, cast the vision back in 1974 through a letter he wrote entitled, “Live Not By Lies”:

“The more of us set out together, the thicker our ranks, the easier and shorter will this path be for us all!  If we become thousands – they will not cope, they will be unable to touch us.  If we will grow to tens of thousands – we will not recognize our country!”

What was Solzhenitsyn’s vision?  To mobilize and multiply, which gives this initiative its mandate, model and mission.

Help us seize the opportunity

If you share that conviction, join us!  Help us seize the opportunity to mobilize and multiply the Body of Christ, county by county for long-term community-wide impact and statewide influence.  Though a highly audacious goal we know, it is what God has called us to.  Thus, we dare not shrink in the face of the challenge.

It may be what He is calling you to as well.  Pray about it, and then according to God’s promptings and leading, let’s see where it goes!

An Ecclesiastic Imperative

A lay pastoral collective would produce and reproduce organic ministers and ministries in each county every three years.

A Scholastic Alternative

An entrepreneurial education cooperative would launch and lead K-12 classical schools or local tutorial-based “halls” at the post-secondary level.

A Domestic Preservative

A grassroots civilian collaborative would guard and strengthen the familial, social, civic and economic pillars of “town and country.”

The Angst of the People ….

The ChrisCorps Commission addresses the persistent concerns of faithful parents and freedom-loving citizens regarding the spiritual condition of our culture, the adolescent mental health crisis, and the ideological assault on our founding principles. ChrisCorps founder and president, Brian Schroeder, frequently encountered these issues as a public official, pastor, counselor and educator.

In response, the ChrisCorps Commission aims to mobilize and multiply a band of spiritual and cultural trailblazers. Because "a threefold cord is not quickly broken," this endeavor proposes a long-term, holistic design that weaves together three corresponding threads:

3-Year Commission, 21-Year Mission

A Ministry Operation

At the end of a 3-year ministry cycle, the mother ChrisCorps group would birth three daughter groups which in turn would repeat the process. Seven of these cycles – a total of 21 years – would result in 729 cohorts statewide

An Education Campaign

A strategic corresponding academic movement in each county for seven 3-year cycles would result in a School of Thought series of classical small schools and a network of micro-campuses via Oxford-styled college and trade school “halls”.

A Citizen Vanguard

Through 21 years of activated local and regional outposts, asserting their involvement and investment in our families and communities as well as our municipal and commercial institutions, the Homefront project, year by year, strengthens life at home.

Letter from the President

Dear Friend of Christ and His Body,

The Apostle Paul once said, "... for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries." (I Corinthians 16:9) The same is no less true today.

As the thick darkness of unrelenting evil swells around each of us and our families, our local communities and our beloved nation as well as every other nation on the globe, the need for the light of Christ’s increased presence has never been greater.  It is the conviction of this spiritual imperative that this light comes only through a body of believers (a faith community), which is His physical presence on the earth today.

Accordingly, the pages that follow represent the comprehensive framework for a lay ministry initiative dubbed ChrisCorps, the nomenclature for derivatives that come from their original languages: in Greek. “Christus” means Christ and “Corpus” means body, while “Cor” in Latin means heart.  A ChrisCorps, then, is simply an organic Christ-body that beats with Christ’s heart to increase Christ’s presence.  What this can mean for homes and churches as well as for schools and communities, is reflected in the subsequent pages.

Some of the most isolated, lonely places on earth are within the very walls of so many struggling homes and some of the darkest, most painful places in our homes are within the very hearts of so many hurting people.  Moreover, the Bible describes only three personal entities in the universe: the divine, the human and the demonic. One of the inescapable spiritual realities of our world and the human heart, acknowledged or not, is that all of life is about the constant conflict that takes place in the unseen realm between those three entities.

Suffice it to say, a concerted, strategic effort is desperately needed to mobilize His Body for the redemption and healing of hearts and homes in crisis, as well as entire communities and countries, “… that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) The three-fold nature of this sacred charge is one attempt to meet that need.

To the extent you find something here that resonates with your own journey, you may be the person who would give serious consideration to some level of participation, cooperation or support, either now or in the future.  The stakes are as high as they’ve ever been, human hearts are breaking and the glory (the presence) of Jesus Christ Himself merits the deepest levels of urgency and commitment.
